The Friends of the West Shore Theatre is a Pennsylvania Not For Profit Corporation formed by a group of concerned citizens of New Cumberland and surrounding communities committed to preserve the landmark West Shore Theatre. Its mission is to reopen the theatre as a multipurpose venue to serve the community by featuring movies, independent movie festivals, jazz and folk music, speaker series, and more. The Friends is a project of the Foundation for Enhancing Communities.
The Capital Campaign funding the renovation and restoration of the West Shore Theatre is underway to transform the Theatre to an arts and cultural hub for the entire West Shore. As the anchor of Downtown New Cumberland, the new and re-invented Theatre’s MISSION is to present and provide a forum for cinema, music, and culturally diverse activities for our metro area.
Theatre Project Moving Forward!
We have been quietly making very good progress with our fundraising. We received a number of large donations and pledges. We continue to work on the “quiet phase” of our Capitalization Campaign.
We have hired an architect, Chris Dawson. He is developing the plans. We hope to share these designs with you soon. Keep an eye on our Facebook page.
We continue to show the West Shore Theatre to potential users of the theatre to learn what they want or need so we can design a facility that works for as many as possible. If you know someone who might want to use the theatre, we would love to meet them. Perhaps show them the theatre so we can get their thoughts.
We will be in touch. Check us out on Facebook.
